Rev. Derek Street

Rev. Derek Street is honored to serve as the newly appointed Lead Pastor of Point Hope Church. A lifelong servant of Christ and His Church, Derek brings a rich background of faith, family, and ministry to this new role.

Derek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Western Carolina University and has faithfully served in and led music ministry for more than 23 years. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Christian Ministries at Asbury Theological Seminary, deepening his theological training and pastoral formation.

Beyond his calling in ministry, Derek treasures his family life. He and his wife, Nikki, are blessed with four children—Phoenix (and his wife, Mackenzie), Kari (pronounced Kah’-ree), Isaac, and Gavin—and are the proud grandparents of Lake and another grandson soon to arrive.

Above all, Derek’s greatest joy is found in his relationship with the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is humbled by the call to pastoral ministry and is committed to leaning on the guidance of the Holy Spirit to turn knowledge into wisdom as he shepherds God’s people. His pastoral vision is to cultivate an environment of grace, to offer a listening ear and compassionate heart, and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ with clarity and conviction.

Derek desires to mirror the unconditional love of Christ, as expressed in 1 Corinthians 13, and to lead Point Hope Church in embodying that love both within the congregation and throughout the wider community. He gives all glory to God for the wonderful work He has done, is doing, and will continue to do in and through the lives of His people.
